Our Program


Dance E.L.I.T.E. Performance Academy (D.E.P.A.) is Columbus’ premiere dance studio that prides itself on providing quality instruction in a welcoming yet challenging environment. We teach keeping the whole student in mind. Dance E.L.I.T.E. offers a wide range of dance classes but is most known for its emphasis on contemporary, hip-hop and jazz. The students of D.E.P.A. are not only encouraged to work hard to become the best dancers they are capable of being, but also positive contributors to the community at large. Dance E.L.I.T.E. is constantly taking the art of dance to the “Next Level”!

Our Commitment:
The purpose of the DEPA Competition Team is to offer dance instruction & performance opportunities that inspire dancers, help build self-confidence and to develop the “Superstar” performer within. Our competitive dance program focuses on strengthening each dancer’s technique individually and giving them countless opportunities to showcase their talent to the world!

Training & Development


Mandatory Training Camp:

All dancers interested in joining the 2023/2024 D.E.P.A. Competition Team must attend the 2 Week Training Camp July 24-August 5. Cost for the two-week camp is $425. Camp hours are 9am-3:00pm. Dancers must bring their own lunch/snacks and water labeled with their name.


Attire:

Leotard (maybe 2) - It will be hot!!

Leggings or spandex shorts

Ballet Shoes

Hair pulled back off face

No Jewelry (including watches)

Cell phones are permitted but must be kept with their personal belongings until breaks or lunch.


Mandatory Attire:

All dancers are to wear proper attire to each class and rehearsal.

Students who arrive to class more than 10 minutes late or not in proper attire must sit up front and take notes.


Ballet:

Level 1 - Purple leotard, flesh tone tights and flesh tone ballet shoes

Level 2 - Turquoise leotard flesh tone tights and flesh tone ballet shoes

Level 3 - Red leotard, flesh tone tights and flesh tone ballet shoes

Level 4 - Black leotard, flesh tone tights and flesh tone ballet shoes

*Boys - A unitard that is the color for their level and flesh tone ballet shoes


Jazz/Modern:

Level 1 - Purple leotard and flesh tone tights

Level 2 - Turquoise leotard and flesh tone tights

Level 3 - Red leotard and flesh tone tights

Level 4 - Black leotard and flesh tone tights

*Boys - A unitard that is the color for their level


Hip Hop/Tap: DEPA T-shirt and DEPA joggers


Line Rehearsal Attire: Black leotard, bra top, leggings, spandex shorts



Masterclass Schedule:

In an effort to increase our dancers technique and skill level to new heights. We will be hosting 2 masterclasses this year and also bringing in a couple guest choreographers. Masterclasses are mandatory for every competition team member.

DEPA Family Expectations


Attendance Policy:

DEPA competition members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances. In order for our dancers to grow individually and as a team, they must make class and rehearsal a priority. Dancers are asked to sign in for each class and rehearsal at the front desk. Any dancer with 2 or more unexcused absences or tardiness to class or line rehearsals will not be permitted to dance in upcoming event (competition or performance). No refunds on missed competition fees due to violating the attendance policy.


Dancer Expectations:

● Be 100% committed to the team

● Give 100% at all times

● Rehearse at home

● Be respectful to teachers and fellow team members at all times

● Constantly working on bettering technique in all specialty dance genres

● Positive Attitude

● No Foul Language

● Be mentally present during classes, rehearsals and performances

● Be dressed appropriately for classes, rehearsals and performances

● Be physically fit

● Commit to working out at least 3 times a week at home

● Commit to stretching daily

● Sign contract for 12 month commitment

Parent Expectations

● Be 100% committed to the team

● Volunteer at DEPA Special Events

● Be financially responsible by paying all fees on time

● Ensure your child is in attendance for class, rehearsals and performances

● Participate in fundraisers

● Read and reply to all emails and or text messages in a timely manner

● Respect all other DEPA Parents, Dancers & Studio

● Display excellence at all times

● Sign contract for 12 month commitment
